With the addition of the new S and Performance models, the Urus’s performance improves for the 2023 model year; horsepower jumps by 16 to 657 hp. The Performance features a different suspension system than the base S; it sits 0.8 inches lower than usual and uses steel springs rather than air springs. A special set of shoes for the Performante is also available. These shoes are 23-inch wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires in sizes 285/40R-22 up front and 325/235R-22 down back.

A 657-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 powers all 2023 Urus versions. Under maximum throttle, the engine completely bellows and burbles loudly when idling. Only the Performante features a center differential that is unusual and uses steel springs to deliver more torque rearward than usual. In addition, a new Rally drive option for off-road driving is available on the ultra-Urus. Although it was a lot of fun when we tried it out during a prototype drive of the ’23 Urus Performante, we doubt many owners will actually thrash their six-figure SUV on gravel-covered off-road courses. We’re pleased to report that the Performante’s numerous enhancements pay off on the racetrack by delivering a snappier powertrain, better steering feedback, and a stiffer ride.

The owners of Lamborghini’s heaviest model, the Urus, sure like to drink, but those affluent enough to purchase one probably don’t worry about fuel efficiency. The 657-hp Urus is predicted by the EPA to achieve 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the motorway. The mileage will undoubtedly vary depending on driving style even though we haven’t tested its real-world mpg on our 75 mph highway fuel economy route.
Urus 2023 Cargo, Comfort & Interior
The cabin offers a striking interior that is distinctly Lambo. To the left of the shifter are the controls for the drive modes and the programmable performance settings. There is a lot of faux-suede and carbon-fiber decoration throughout, even if the infotainment system and re-configurable gauges are straight from an Audi.
Depending on the seating arrangement chosen, there is adequate passenger room in the back seat for two to three passengers. Utilizable door pockets and a bin behind the floating center stack highlight the interior cubby storage. The cargo space of the Urus can hold up to 22 cubic feet, although with the optional rear bucket seats, that amount decreases by 2 cubic feet. Although the screens offer clear visuals and big icons, they are less user-friendly than conventional knobs and buttons.
