2023 Mini Cooper EV Performance & Review
There is a little bit of torque steer when you first hit the throttle, but it goes away as soon as you ease off the gas. You’ll be able to drive this car for 114 miles on a single charge, and it can get charged up to 80% in about 35 minutes when you use a level 3 DC fast charger. It can also recharge at a much more modest rate when plugged into a basic home outlet.
The interior design of this car doesn’t give any clues that it’s an EV, and we like that. Its driver-focused layout is very similar to the standard two-door Cooper that it’s based on, and the front seats are ultra-supportive and comfy. They are upholstered in a nice Punch Carbon black leather that adds some flair to the cabin. The rear seat is a tiny cube that can only accommodate small people, and it limits cargo space as well.
In the infotainment department, the 8.8-inch multimedia touchscreen is a pleasure to use, and it comes with Apple CarPlay and built-in sat-nav. The base model includes 17-inch ‘Tentacle’ alloy wheels, premium Harman Kardon audio, heated front seats, auto-dimming and power-folding mirrors, and dual-zone climate control. The ‘Driver Assistant Plus package adds adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings, forward collision detection, and automatic high beams.
